Relaunch

Project Overview

As the site relaunch approached completion, a significant shift occurred. A campus-wide rebrand forced us to overhaul our approach entirely. However, amidst the changes, we found a silver lining—an opportunity to step back, reevaluate, and reimagine our project. Embracing the messy nature of UX, this serves as a prime example of adaptation and growth.

Establishing the Website Funnel

Identifying Users

With over 1 million annual visitors to our website, understanding our audience and their goals is crucial. We've identified distinct user groups and organized them into three categories.

Current Residents

Future Residents

Parents & Guests

Identifying Trends Though Affinity Mapping

We focused on surveying our current residents to understand their needs and goals to uncover areas of improvement.

Following the survey I created an affinity map to uncover common themes. The following are the five themes that were important to our residents.

Convenience

Proximity

Ammenities

Affordability

Community

Ideating New Opportunities

How might utilize the website to enhance our users goals and increase their value? Through uncovering key insights, we can create value to our users through clearly defined objectives while enhancing their experience.

I used this opportunity to come up with three areas I believed would enhance our the user flow and the website experience for our users.

Dashboard

Creating a student dashboard will allow our students to access their critical areas and give them the power to check emails, balances, statuses, and more.

Housing Finder

Giving our new user a guided housing search will alleviate pain points in onboarding to their college experience.

Calls to Action

Having clear calls to actions will enhance our users flow within our website and give them successful actions.

Flows for Success

The current website lacks an effective user flow, hindering users from experiencing a sense of accomplishment in achieving their goals, particularly when signing up for housing. To address this, we implemented a dual approach: a step-by-step questionnaire for those who prefer guidance and the option for users to explore and sign up independently.
